About Alan Fisch
Alan Fisch, MD, a well-respected psychiatrist with more than four decades of clinical experience, has owned and operated his own private practice in Massachusetts since 1968. Over the course of his career, Dr. Fisch has focused his attention on addiction medicine and family therapy sessions. To that end, he provides consultations to local clinics and patients on best practices for group therapy and addiction medicine. Since 2003, Alan Fisch, MD, has also functioned as the Director of Psychiatry at Addiction Medicine Associates. In this position, Dr. Fisch works with various primary health clinics to develop comprehensive plans to support patients recovering from addiction.
During his career, Alan Fisch, MD, has directed psychiatric and mental health programs at numerous facilities throughout the Greater Boston area, holding appointments at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Metrowest Medical Center until 2000. He also functioned as the Chairman of the Board for the Psychiatric Network of Massachusetts and held board positions with the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health, the Society for Family Therapy and Research, and other medical groups. Furthermore, Dr. Fisch taught at Harvard Medical School as a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry for 25 years.
Holding board certification in psychiatry and neurology, Alan Fisch, MD, maintains Diplomate status with the American College of Addiction Medicine and has been designated as a Medical Review Officer by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. For the past decade, Dr. Fisch has served on the Brookline Mental Health Community Council and acted as the Brookline Medical Reserve Corps’ Community Education Chair. He also belongs to the American College of Physician Executives.
Alan Fisch, MD laid the groundwork for his career at Brandeis University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. After earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Fisch completed extensive postdoctoral training in family therapy and psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical Center, Boston State Hospital, and the New England Medical Center.
